Joe Waranyuwat (he/him) received his MSW from the University of Pennsylvania and BS and MS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Joe interned at Hall-Mercer Community Mental Health Center in Philadelphia, where he worked with patients who experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, and psychosis. Prior to that, Joe interned at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, where he conducted drug and alcohol screening for patients in the trauma and emergency departments.
Prior to social work, Joe worked at the University of Illinois as Director and Tufts University as Associate Dean. In addition to his membership in professional social work organizations, Joe is also on the board of directors of One People, a nonprofit that offers free summer arts camps to kids primarily from underserved communities.
Joe takes an integrative approach to therapy, combining various modalities to help his clients. He has training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and is in the process of getting trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Joe is very open to meeting with adult clients (individuals and couples) on a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, phobias, physical and emotional intimacy struggles, and relationship concerns.
