Deepa Shukla uses a psychodynamic approach to help her clients uncover their past in order to deepen their understanding of their present situation. She believes that we have within us all of the resources we need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. Being a first-generation American, Deepa has an intrinsic appreciation of the special plight that the children of immigrants face.
She aspires to bring her unique perspective to help these individuals, as well as all those who may feel different. Deepa hopes in her work to guide her clients in overcoming feelings of difference and inadequacy and to feel more accepting of themselves. Being a native Washingtonian, she has always lived amongst a diverse population and strives to make everyone feel comfortable and understood. Prior to becoming a therapist, Deepa had a career in the arts, but always craved a line of work where she could help others. She realized that her most natural abilities lie in connecting with and understanding people, so she decided to pursue a new path to answer this calling.
Deepa primarily works with adult individuals and couples, but also has experience working with children and holds a special place in her heart for them. She has an instinct to connect and empathize with people from all walks of life.
